Registration is now open for the 2025 edition of the Chavez Ridge Ice Bowl in Paradise. IBIP is a Charity XC-Tier… low entry fee, no prizes or payouts… a casual, fun event in many respects. But you can earn SoCal points and PDGA Ratings! Chavez Ridge has undergone a transformation in recent years with longer tees and challenging pin placements– if you haven’t been out recently, it is definitely worth the trip!

Its still December, but a number of spring SoCal Series events are already accepting registration!

The 1st Annual Torrey Tuft Memorial is a 1-round C-Tier to be contested on a temp course at Castaic Lake Recreation Area on 1/11. The first event at this course was back in November, and it was a huge success. Show your support and help Jason Scott and Logan Turner make this a permanent course.

Earlybird/Sponsor registration is already open for the 47th Wintertime Open. Amateur event here, and professional event here. Mike Jewel and Steve Rico carry the torch for one of SoCal’s historic crown jewels.

Nate Weaver and Josh Cheney have resurrected The Colton Open, which will be a 1-day, 2-round event with golf carts. Registration is already open to all participants, and we already have some strong fields lining up in FPO, FA50, and FP60. Love to see that!

We are only a few short weeks away from registration for The Yucaipa Open, one of the best camp & play events on the west coast.

The sun has set on the 2024 SoCal Series.

We capped things off with a just-for-fun round at Whittier Narrows organized by Nate Weaver , followed by Tacos and Beer at La Jara Brewing. President Randy Wylot addressed the troops about the state of the organization (going strong in it’s 27th year) and awarded series divisional champions with tons of swag, including mini disc-catchers. With team captain Mike Byrne out sick, Treasurer Josh Cheney read off the first round of invites to represent us in the SoCal/NorCal Cup.

The attendees voted unanimously to nominate a board of directors for 2025, including some new faces and some old ones. Per the organization’s bylaws, that group will meet in January to determine leadership roles for the 2025 calendar year.

Registration is now live for the So Cal End of Year Fun Round and Awards Banquet on December 14th. Organizers Nathan Weaver and Allen Risley present a casual afternoon of competition at Whitter Narrows, followed by a Taco Buffet at La Jara Brewing Company. At the Fun Round, everbody wins a prize! Congratulations to the top professional division finishers at the SoCal Championships! 109 of SoCal’s finest competed last weekend at Lake Cachuma, bringing the two-weekend total to 221 competitors! The top finishers claimed not only one of the most prestigious individual titles in California, but also earned bonus points towards the SoCal Series Championships.

Please thank tournament directors Randy Wylot and Mike Byrne, the many incredible event volunteers and course maintenance volunteers, and the local disc golf clubs that helped make the 2024 SoCal Championships a success!

It’s the day of reckoning! SoCal DGC Points Guru Jeff Nichols has calculated the final series points totals and named our champions. Congrats to those who worked hard all year to achieve greatness. Remember, top finishers in am divisions win merch, and top finishers in pro divisions win cold hard cash. Plus, you may be eligible for a roster slot on the Tim Selinske NorCal V. SoCal Team Challenge in January. Stay tuned for more information about the season ending fun-round and banquet, where you can claim your prize!

Remember, top point earners in every division are eligible for prizes, and competition spots in January’s Socal-Norcal team competition. Plus bragging rights!!
