The 2023 Colton Open Presented by Innova

Good morning Colton Open Saturday players,

I am providing an update to the registration situation. Unfortunately, with the amount of players registered and wait-listed, I consulted with both the course manager and the PDGA and made the decision to remove the Saturday from the competition. The divisions from Saturday will be moved to play on Sunday and The Colton Open will be a single day event. I have also combined the wait-lists from both days and placed players in order of when they joined by time and date so it is fair to all.

What does this mean for the Saturday players? I have already moved the current registered players from Saturday over to Sunday on Disc Golf Scene and the PDGA is working with me to make the transition over on the PDGA site. If you are able to play Sunday, great! You do not need to do anything except show up on Sunday, July 16, ready to play. If you are not able to play Sunday, you can request a refund either through the Saturday event page (it will stay up for administrative purposes) or you can email me and I will handle it. Since this cancellation is on me, players are eligible for a full refund from the Saturday divisions if they are unable to attend.

I want to thank all of you for registering and wanting to join us for this event. If you are unable to make it, I completely understand and hope that you will be able to join us at another Trees or Chains event. I apologize for this and hope to have more time on the next one to plan ahead and created a full weekend event like we intended to.

Greetings SoCal Club!

If you’ve been wanting a fun two-round, one-day, SoCal Series tournament, and play MA1, FA1, or any pro division, take a ride up the mountain to Sky High/Mountain High North, Sunday, May 21.

And although the Saturday Am day (except MA1 and FA1) is full, you’ll still be able to get in practice on the 9 holes not played in the tournament each round. Make it a weekend getaway and hit the great local  restaurants like Mexico Lindo and the Evergreen Cafe! And obviously the Wright Brew Co!!!! Registration

Also, if you’re a “Seasoned” disc golfer, did you know that registration is live for the Pasadena Senior Games at Oak Grove?!?!

T. Ske CA Cup NorCal vs. SoCal Invitational Team Disc Golf Tournament Wrap Up

After day one of the tournament, SoCal had a shockingly large lead of 63 to 17!

NorCal had no choice but to shake up their lineup drastically and hope for the reverse results on Sunday.

As the cards rolled in Sunday afternoon, two things were clear, Norcal did better than the day before, and SoCal would retain the California Cup water pail trophy!

Sunday scores: SoCal 51.5; NorCal 28.5.

Grand total: SoCal 114.5; NorCal 45.5.

I know that all SoCal hopes that we are in a new era of dominance (as NorCal has had), and we look forward to defending the coveted perpetual trophy next year!

Cheers!

Mike Byrne

This is not part of the So Cal point series but trying something new to move tags around while showing our appreciation for those that work so hard for disc golf.
